Summary:
In this article, the plan for the Stimulus Plan will be increased form $27 billion to $32 billion per month in spending. Vice president Joe Biden will release his annual Stimulus Report on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. This Stimulus plan is the largest plan with money America has had to deal with. With using $787 billion on this plan, lots of controversial activities have occurred. Republican representatives have said that the new stimulus plan of '08 is destroying more jobs than it is creating. However, slowly the 2.8 million jobs that have been lost are actually rising, but very slowly. Also another controversy that the Stimulus plan has in store for we Americans, is where is most of the money actually going to. Last year to the end of January, some $334 billion has been approved in which $179 billion has been sent to help the government and the other $119 billion is just going to taxes. Lots of controversy is going into the Stimulus plan, but slowly its still creating new jobs for Americans.
How this article relates to Social Studies:
This article relates to Social Studies because Joe Biden, our vice president of the United States of America, is part of the legislative branch in government. Also in the 1920's, objects were low priced and now in the 2010's, objects' price have tripled. Another reason why this article relates to Social Studies class is because the Stimulus plan is a bill that was passed by the Senate and the House of Reps.
Discusion Questions:
1. Do you think that the Stimulus plan should be increased from $27 billion to $32 billion? Why or why not?
2. If you were a Senator in the USA, would support the Stimulus plan? Why or why not?
3. Do you think that it is fair for all the taxes we pay for the Stimulus plan for half of it to go back into taxes? Why or why not?
My Answers:
1. I think that the Stimulus plan should be increased from $27 billion to $32 billion because with more money coming at a quicker time, we Americans can help save more jobs that are in need of the money now.
2. If I was a Senator, I would support the Stimulus plan. I would support this because with all the money it is gaining, millions of jobs will bloom and the people who lost their jobs will have them back hopefully by the end of the year.
3. I don't think that it is fair that half of the money went back to taxes because then really only $179 billion has helped our economy in the last year. The other $119 billion has pretty much done nothing else than take that money away from us.

1. I do. This is because the current package is working, and it seems if the current one at $27B is working, adding $5B would only help us.
2. Yes. As I previously said, this would only help our current situation.
3. Yes. We still have to pay the government and it can only function correctly if it has the correct amount of money.

1) I think that we should raise it to $32 Billion because right now, we need all the money and help we can get. Even if it is going slowly and is taking time, it is still working, and add money would help.
2) If I were a senator, I would support this because we need anything to help our economy and create jobs.
3) I dont think it is fair if half of it goes back into taxes because that means we are not getting as much from the stimulus plan as we need.

1) I do because the money, the better. It might not seem that big but it will really help in the end.
2) Yes, it will only help the cause.
3) I don't think it is fair because we are not getting the most out of the stimulus plan as possible.
